The reparations following the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami could cost as much as $300 billion, making the March 11 disaster the costliest in history.
According to CNN, as of this afternoon the official death toll is at 11,438 people. Another 16,541 people are missing, and 2,873 are injured.
